The third annual "Run 4 Sam" four mile race along the Tulpehocken creek in Berks County will take place 8/22/10. It is in honor and memory of Samuel Brooklyn Reed. Sam was a former Schuylkill Valley High School cross country runner as well as a frequent award winner in many Berks County races. His life was taken 9/1/07 by a hit and run, drunk driver while he was attending the University of Pittsburgh. Proceeds from this race will fund both a scholarship in his name, managed by the Berks County Community Foundation, and the Berks County Parks and Recreation Department in the operation and maintenance of the Union Canal Trail.
